399 credit

You can get one or two course credits for participating in DC.  We expect effort and learning appropriate to course credit.

If you wish to receive 399 credit for DC, you must sign up for 399.   It is not automatic!  All credits are handled by the Faculty Committee this year, not by individual 399 advisors. New this year, there will be milestones which you must pass to receive credit.  Team sizes are limited to 3 (sometimes 4).

To sign up for DC for 399 credit for Winter 2007:

  •  For Mechanical Engineering, get a permission number (399:Peshkin) from Pat Dyess in the Mechanical Engineering office.  No faculty signature is needed.  Sign up on Caesar.
  • For EECS, get a permission number (399:Taflove) from the EECS office.  No faculty signature is needed.  Sign up on Caesar.
  • For other departments, please email dcfaculty@gmail.com

Note that your team should also have a Technical Advisor, which is distinct from the 399 credit issue.  Do not report a member of the DC Faculty Committee as "faculty advisor" on your DC proposal -- instead report the person you have found who will be your technical advisor.  Any faculty member or other appropriate person can serve as a technical advisor.   Technical advisor is an important role, but an informal one, since the faculty committee is handling grades and credits.
